Rusty serves as a tax senior manager in the Firm's State and Local Tax Group (SALT). With more than twenty-five years of experience, he has a wide range of both state and federal tax experience and has serviced clients in a number of industries including manufacturing, distribution, retail, logistics, biotechnology, real estate, construction, advertising, health care and educational institutions. He works closely with the SALT Group in offices throughout the firm in all areas of state taxation including income and sales tax research and planning; audits and appeals; nexus studies; voluntary disclosures; sales & use tax reviews; and state tax credits and incentives. Prior to joining Dixon Hughes Goodman, Rusty worked with a tax consulting firm specializing in multi-state and local tax controversy resolution and planning. He has also worked in tax department management positions for two publicly traded companies, a Big 4 firm, and a regional accounting firm. He also has earned the CMI –Income Tax designation from the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, recognized nationally as a mark of achievement and distinction in the state and local income tax field. Giles is a nationally recognized state and local tax practitioner and has more than twenty-five years of corporate tax experience. He has consulted with companies ranging in size from middle-market to the Fortune 40.   Giles' focus is on the multi-state aspects of corporate income and franchise taxes, mergers and acquisitions and sales tax issues. John von Lehe is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Charleston, where he practices in taxation, estate planning, and appellate law.

Mr. von Lehe concentrates a significant portion of his practice in matters of property tax (including fee-in-lieu of property tax), sales tax, state income tax and economic and tax incentives for new and existing businesses.

Mr. von Lehe previously served as in-house counsel with the Rulings Division of the Internal Revenue Service. While serving as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of South Carolina, he also served as counsel to the South Carolina Tax Commission. Read more.
