Tax Advice for Dealers: Be Patient

"How does this impact me?"

That is the most common question dealers ask about the new federal tax law, said an executive at a major dealership accounting firm. The question hints at the confusion many dealers feel over the tax changes, even as many stand to benefit from lower tax rates.

"They can't ask any deeper because of the amount of information in the bill. It's the largest [tax bill] since 1986," said Adam Neporadny, senior manager in the dealership practice of Dixon Hughes Goodman, in Charlotte, N.C.
