Michael has been with Dixon Hughes Goodman for more than 20 years and is a part of the Firm's Insurance Services Group. Michael has worked primarily with property and casualty insurers, life insurers and extended service contract companies providing assurance, consulting and special project services.
Michael's assurance services background is primarily with property and casualty insurers and extended service contract companies. He also provides consulting services to companies in these areas including acquisition due diligence assistance. Michael has focused on workers' compensation and private passenger auto insurers, as well as a various other multi-line insurers. Michael's work with life insurers focuses on consulting and special project services. His life insurer clients have primarily been large, multi-national companies.
In addition to traditional services, Michael has also assisted in a number of consulting projects with large life and property & casualty insurance companies. He has assisted both life and property & casualty companies with annual and quarterly statutory reporting and U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting. He has also worked with a Fortune 500 international life insurer on a multi-year engagement (2008-2012) in roles in FP&A and in Financial Reporting. In the FP&A role, he managed several employees in the department working on monthly and quarterly P&L analysis, rating agency and investor presentations, expense analysis, sell-side due diligence (offering memorandum preparation, data room maintenance, purchase price adjustment analysis), earnings call analytics, IPO readiness assessments and coordination with Treasury. In this role, Michael reported directly to the CFO of the company. Michael has also assisted two large life insurers in developing detailed capital models for continuous assessment (actual and projected results) and for assistance with rating agency presentations and ORSA analysis.
