John B. Bowles is DHG’s Chief Information and Digital Officer. John has been with the firm for 21 years and has helped it grow from a small regional practice to one of the top 20 accounting firms in the U.S. John is responsible for all DHG internal technology operations, IT strategic planning, network infrastructure, compliance and security. He also directs a team of Digital Marketing professionals in an effort to leverage digital capabilities to enhance the Firm’s brand and client experience. In addition to overseeing the firm’s internal IT operations and digital marketing services, John heads a large and growing SaaS practice that specializes in hosting services for the long-term care industry.
Prior to joining DHG, John spent 12 years serving in a variety of technology roles. He spent his early years writing software for Brown Shoe Company’s international division – Pagoda Trading Company. He also helped Blue Cross Blue Shield of Missouri start their PPO network – HealthLink – serving as that organization’s first IT director. As a consultant, he worked with Fortune 500 companies like Anheuser Busch, McDonnell Douglas and IBM. He also consulted with numerous small to mid-size companies. John has helped provide technology leadership to businesses in many industries including retail, manufacturing, distribution, healthcare and insurance.
John has been a member of the Information Technology Alliance since 2004, chaired two ITL planning committees and served on several others. In 2011 John was elected to the Information Technology Alliance Board of Directors, serving as Board Chairman in 2014.
John graduated from the University of Missouri - St. Louis with a B.S. in business administration with a MIS emphasis and earned his MBA from Montreat College. John is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Certified Lotus Professional (CLP) and ITIL certified. John graduated from the Keenan Flagler, University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill program for IT Leadership.
