Luke began his professional career with DHG in 2001. He is a member of both the government contracting and employee benefits industry groups within the firm, primarily focusing in assurance services. This allows Luke to serve as a single point of contact for our clients while understanding multiple aspects of their business. Luke's experience in these industries allows him to:
• Develop effective and efficient audit procedures that are tailored to the way a specific business operates. • Understand and assist with the revenue recognition issues facing government contractors with various types of contract (fixed price, time and material, cost reimbursable, etc.). • Identify potential issues with indirect rate structures with consideration of unallowable costs. • Work with an audit team and client personnel to allow financial statement deadlines to be met and identify internal control concerns. • Work with DHG’s tax team to identify potential tax issues and find effective solutions. • Understand common pitfalls small businesses face when operating 401(k) plans and find methods to help avoid those pitfalls and stay in compliance with DOL regulations. • Work with plan administrators to make the necessary corrections when operational errors or prohibited transactions are identified.
Luke has prepared and presented multiple in-house training programs for DHG employees on unallowable costs (FAR 31.2), controls related to unallowable costs, auditing government contractors and auditing employee benefit plans. To stay current with industry developments, Luke attends the AICPA's Employee Benefit Plan Conference and webinars hosed by the AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center.
