OTAs: They Are Not Just for Breakfast Anymore

This event has already occurred.

Event Overview

Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs) seem to have recently found a resurgence since NASA was first authorized to use them in 1958. An OTA is a formal contract, generally exempt from the traditional FAR based terms and conditions. This makes them advantageous to attract nontraditional companies at a much faster pace than FAR based contracts. Currently 11 federal agencies are authorized by Congress to award OTAs and it appears the use of OTAs is increasing across the market.

Please join DHG’s Bill Walter and his guest Mr. Eric Crusius of Holland & Knight as they discuss this flexible tool and the recent trend of its use in the contracting marketplace. Our panel will discuss:

  • FAR guidance on the use of OTAs
  • History of the use of OTAs
  • Trending growth of OTA awards
  • Which agencies are using OTAs and who is receiving them
  • How OTAs are being used by the DoD to gain access to critical technology from nontraditional defense contractors
