Part Two - UBIT and Compensation

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act made multiple changes to the unrelated business income tax and created new tax consequences for tax-exempt organizations when providing certain fringe benefits or paying compensation in excess of $1 million.

This webinar will review those specific changes, identify questions that have emerged about these provisions apply, and discuss how tax-exempt organizations are adapting to the changes in law.

  • New excise tax on compensation over $1 million and excess parachute payments paid by tax-exempt hospitals
  • Separating different lines of unrelated trades or business when computing unrelated business taxable income so that NOLs must be computed and applied separately for each line of business

  • New unrelated business income tax on amounts spent for certain employee fringe benefits
