With today marking the start of Black History Month, we wanted to celebrate and announce DHG’s renewed support of The PhD Project (through 2019!) and our continued partnership with NABA (the National Association of Black Accountants) as a Corporate Platinum Sponsor for the National Convention. As a firm we are passionate about serving our communities and investing in careers. We are excited about these partnerships and all that we will achieve together as a result.
DHG has partnered with The PhD Project for seven years. In fact, our COO, Kent Satterfield (pictured above) is the current Chair of the Board of Directors. For those unfamiliar with The PhD Project, it is a non-profit organization that recruits minority professionals from business into doctoral programs in all business disciplines with the goal of increasing diversity in business leadership. Diversifying the faculty attracts more minorities to study business and better prepares all students to function in a diverse workforce. Since its inception, The PhD Project has been responsible for contributing to the increase in the number of minority business professors from 294 to 1,274!
DHG partners with NABA as a way to further recruit best-in-class talent and develop solid professional relationships within our communities. In addition to our NABA partnership on a national level, DHG has active NABA members in the Metro DC, Richmond, Charlotte, Atlanta, Greensboro and Memphis professional chapters, with several DHG employees serving on their respective chapter’s board. Within these chapters, our people are getting involved in everything from mentorship programs and professional development summits to case study competitions and career awareness initiatives. DHG also actively sponsors NABA student chapters at Hampton University, North Carolina A&T, George Mason University, Virginia Commonwealth University, the University of South Carolina, the University of Mississippi and the soon-to-launch chapters at the University of North Carolina Greensboro and Jackson State University. If you're a student at one of these schools, be sure to say hi if you see us on campus!
