Charlotte, N.C., October 7, 2021 – DHG, a U.S. top 20 professional services firm, is pleased to announce that Wesley McLeod, a Partner in DHG’s Insurance practice, has received the IASA New Volunteer of the Year Award during IASA’s annual conference, IASA Xchange™. New volunteer award recipients are nominated and selected by their peers based on their leadership roles and engagement in the association. Wesley was recognized for his extensive work as the first chairperson of the IASA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee; he was appointed to this position earlier this year and was selected to serve a second term.
“Wesley has gone above and beyond to set the strategic vision for our new DEI Committee and immediately created impact. We rely on members and volunteers, like Wesley, to help progress the industry and make it a better place for all professionals. We are very grateful for Wesley’s work and dedication and look forward to seeing all that he accomplishes with the DEI Committee,” commented Kerry Crockett, CEO of IASA.
The newly formed committee’s mission is to foster an inclusive culture and encourage diversity in the insurance industry. To better understand each IASA organizations’ strengths and opportunities for DEI, the committee deployed a survey to gauge DEI awareness, preferred content and distribution channels, and more. Using the survey feedback and results, the committee developed an 18-month strategic plan, including a roundtable discussion featuring outside speakers to share more about DEI in the insurance industry. The group has continuously developed DEI content, best practices and engagement ideas to aid IASA organizations.
“We are proud of Wesley’s commitment to serve and volunteer with the IASA and support strategic initiatives that benefit the insurance industry. This is just one of the many ways Wesley helps to make our people and our clients better,” noted Matt Church, Managing Partner of DHG’s Insurance practice.
Wesley has extensive experience leading insurance engagements, including SEC-compliant annual financial statement audits and quarterly reviews, and financial statement audits of various property and casualty, life, title and captive insurers. As an advisor, Wesley has assisted clients, including Fortune 500 companies, with internal controls design and implementation, mergers and acquisition, financial planning and analysis, researching complex accounting issues and framing accounting policies.
