DHG Sets Students up for Success with School Supply Donations to the YWCA Nashville

DHG Hosts 300 Leaders and Makes a Positive Impact on the Nashville Community

Nashville, Tenn., October 1, 2019 – Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP (DHG), a U.S. top 20 public accounting and advisory firm, donated 90 backpacks with school supplies to Girls Inc. at the YWCA Nashville during the firm's annual partner meeting in Nashville. Girls Inc. empowers girls to succeed through mentoring relationships, programming and a sisterhood of support.

“Gathering together to donate these school supplies to Girls Inc. and the YWCA Nashville is a testament to DHG’s commitment to serving the metro Nashville area,” said Paul Hopkins, DHG Nashville Office Managing Partner. “We are proud to support Girls Inc. with these supplies so students can be successful in school.”

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, and the donations given by DHG will assist mothers and children who have been victims of domestic violence.

"The generosity of Dixon Hughes Goodman employees is overwhelming. YWCA serves more than 250 children and their mothers who escape violent homes each year, and they often leave with just the clothes on their backs," said Sharon K. Roberson, President and CEO of YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee. "While they begin the healing process at the Weaver Domestic Violence Center, the children also attend local schools. These backpacks and school supplies will help the children fit in and be one less thing their mothers have to worry about as they work to break the cycle of abuse.”

DHG leaders participated in an interactive team building scavenger hunt styled after the Amazing Race in downtown Nashville. At each activity location, DHG teams collected school supplies to add to the backpacks for Girls Inc. at the YWCA Nashville.

The philanthropic activity affirms DHG’s commitment to giving back and making a positive impact in local communities like Nashville.
