DHG Raises More than $160,000 for National Association of Black Accountants Scholarship Fund

Charlotte, N.C., July 07, 2021Dixon Hughes Goodman (DHG), a U.S. top 20 professional services firm, is proud to announce the firm and its people raised more than $160,000 to fund scholarships in partnership with the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA). As part of the firm’s commitment to Inclusion & Diversity, DHG recognizes the opportunity to break down the financial barriers that often prevent students from completing their degree and help bridge the educational gap. The DHG LIFT Scholarship will provide two to three students annually with a $10,000 scholarship.

The first two scholarship recipients were announced at the NABA National Convention on June 23 and awarded to Dania Espinal, student at The College of New Jersey, and Michael Idaewor, student at The University of Georgia. Michael also participated in the inaugural class of the DHG Futures Program, a new leadership development program for underrepresented groups.

“Throughout the LIFT Drive, we heard first-hand from our DHG team members who were so positively impacted from NABA and NABA scholarships. Education opens doors and I am so proud of the firm and our people for seizing the opportunity to have a long-term impact on the lives of 15+ students. Congratulations to Dania and Michael – both very hard working and deserving students. We look forward to seeing all that you accomplish,” said CEO Matt Snow.

Through employee-driven fundraising, the firm surpassed the original goal of $100,000 to raise more than $160,000. The fundraising efforts included employee raffles, a virtual 5K run and culminated in the LIFT-A-THON, a virtual “telethon meets variety show” featuring DHG leaders. Employees were encouraged to donate to vote for the different acts throughout the live show. Matt and NABA CEO, Guylaine Saint Juste, kicked off the event and connected to the purpose – “By investing in education, we are lifting people to achieve their full potential and by doing that, we are building a more just world,” said Guylaine. This virtual event alone raised more than $60,000 toward the NABA LIFT Drive in one hour. This was also a great opportunity to bring people together in the virtual work environment – the broadcast generated more than 700 comments. One team member noted, “This was one of the most fun events I’ve experienced in my 15 years at DHG!”
