At the 7th Annual Southeast Finance Conference presented by DHG, attendees explored “Black Swans and Gray Rhinos: Identifying Opportunity in the Face of Challenge,” which covered various threats impacting the senior living industry. To complement and continue this dialogue, DHG has developed our CHALLENGE article and video series.

INTRODUCTION

As introduced in CHALLENGE / Part I: How to Recognize and Define Your Rhino, a Gray Rhino is a highly probable, highly impactful yet often neglected threat to organizational health. Examples of Gray Rhinos for senior living providers include changing consumer demands, higher operating costs, the need for healthy human capital and aging physical plant.1, 2 This article focuses on organizational strategies to address these charging Gray Rhinos.
