Ever since the Small Business Administration (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was established by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (the CARES Act) in March of 2020, the program has helped millions of small business owners stay afloat during the global pandemic. Faced with difficult decisions about headcount reductions or even closing their businesses permanently, business owners turned to PPP loans to fund their operations and keep people employed even while they closed their businesses temporarily due to health concerns and government orders.
