Building Value Through Our Strategy

As we move into a new fiscal year and continue to pursue our Mission, Values and Strategy, it is important for us to reflect on the previous year and celebrate our achievements. There are many ways in which we measure our performance, and by all accounts, we had an incredible year. While we share major milestones throughout the year, our Annual Report is a compilation of our success as it relates to each element of our Strategy- Talent, Leadership, Growth, Service and Performance, and it highlights our efforts to be a great corporate citizen- acting socially responsible and caring for our communities.

Growth From All Angles

One achievement that I am particularly proud to celebrate is bringing on the team members from Stegman & Company in June. Together we formed DHG Baltimore, and the team is already hitting the ground running. We are pleased to have them on board and to further expand our DHG footprint. Their leadership and knowledge will help fuel our growth in the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.

I often refer to DHG as being “One Firm,” meaning that in order for us to achieve our goals, we need to experience success firm-wide, working as a team, not just in certain geographic or practice areas. With that in mind, it is especially exciting to see strong growth across all regions, industries and service lines.

Life Beyond Numbers – Building on Our Unique Culture

Since we launched Life Beyond Numbers last summer, we have worked to build awareness around our approach to people, careers and flexibility. We have spent a great amount of time defining and communicating our philosophy on flexibility.  I always say flexibility is a two way street. DHG is flexible for our people and we are flexible for DHG and our team members.

We have also adopted many new programs in the last year, such as RAVE (Recognition and Reward Program), BOOST (Incentive Program for Seniors and Lead Consultants) and the DHG Gives website (online tool for tracking our giving) that are truly focused on our Life Beyond Numbers approach to people, careers and flexibility. Additionally, we are pleased to have our Inclusion & Diversity council in place as we execute on our strategy to recruit, retain and develop top talent from broader backgrounds.

Accomplishing all of these cultural changes in such a short time speaks to all of our team members who have worked diligently to fine tune the details of these programs, and it reflects our culture of flexibility to take on such significant change quickly and seamlessly.

Measuring Our Progress and Looking Ahead

Our overall employee engagement and the feedback we received from our annual DHG Voice survey is one of the most meaningful and lasting measurements when it comes to helping our people build valuable careers. Employee engagement is essential, and I am proud to see where we are in comparison to other firms. 90% of our people are proud to work at DHG, compared to the professional services norm, which is 80%. Moving into our new fiscal year, we will continue to focus on employee engagement, and we will concentrate on our core value of Trust – being recognized as a High Trust and a High Performing firm.

In the coming year, we will continue to place a great amount of attention on the client experience. Client service is especially important to us as a firm, and we will continue to build stronger disciplines around it and measurements to track our performance. Are we meeting our client’s expectations or are we exceeding them? Along those lines, we also want to take a look at how well we are innovating and evolving across the firm. In this next fiscal year we will utilize our people - our greatest asset - to help us create new solutions and best practices in all areas.

Looking back on the past 12 months, we have much to be proud of as a team. I encourage you to read through the Annual Report to review a snapshot of our progress and Life at DHG. I am truly grateful for all of my DHG teammates and all of the hard work and enthusiasm that went into our success. I look forward to working with each of you in the coming year and seeing all that we will accomplish together.
