The Benefits of a Global Alliance

DHG’s international reach is top-of-mind, as I recently traveled to China for the Praxity Global Conference to meet with fellow accounting professionals from all over the world. Praxity is the world’s leading alliance of independent assurance, tax and advisory firms who share the common goal of facilitating business growth across the world. Through this alliance, we are introduced to multi-national firms for future collaboration and potential new clients, thus allowing us to extend the DHG reach internationally. Praxity enables a large, regional firm like DHG to bring global resources to its people and clients in ways we could not on our own accord.

It is especially important that DHG stays relevant and competitive amid the ever-changing global business climate.  Benefits of being part of the Praxity alliance are extensive. Here are three I’d like to highlight: access to a variety of global resources; ability to exchange ideas and learn best practices from industry leaders from around the world and opportunities for career growth for our DHG people.

Global Access to Resources
Praxity provides an open door to industry resources and on-the-ground professionals who understand the tax law and business challenges in their native countries. This is crucial when conducting business with clients who have an international or multi-market presence. Considering how tax law varies from state to state in our own nation, it is easy to see how complicated international tax law can be to those unfamiliar with the intricacies.

We have also made great connections with international professionals who work with us to serve our domestic clients and who have, in turn, referred clients to us who would benefit from our U.S. expertise. They, like us, understand the importance of a great client service experience.

Diverse Exchange of Ideas
Praxity offers frequent commentary and thought leadership on relevant topics within our industry. Additionally, the opportunity to meet face-to-face with fellow leaders to discuss the continual changes and advances in professional services is always thought-provoking and productive. The Praxity Global Conference is an excellent opportunity for me to network and build relationships with leaders within the US and abroad to enhance my understanding of international best practices, which can ultimately influence our approach at DHG.

Career Growth for Our People
In addition to the business development opportunities that Praxity provides the firm, it also presents many excellent opportunities for individual career growth. Through this alliance, our professionals have an opportunity to participate in secondment programs, which enable them to work abroad for three- to six-months in one of our fellow Praxity firms overseas. This on-site experience in a foreign professional services firm gives our employees the opportunity to broaden their understanding of international business practices and it gives them new perspective for when they return to their home office. In recent years, DHG has sent 17 secondees to various foreign countries and we have welcomed 16 secondees in our own DHG offices.

It is vital that we stay current on the latest industry changes—both within our domestic sphere and on a global level. I encourage our people to utilize and better understand the resources available through Praxity.  Our global alliance is a valuable resource benefiting our people, our clients and our firm as a whole.
