DHG’s Walter McNairy and Robin Sawyer to Present on Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses Topics at Sageworks’ 2015 Risk Management Summit

Raleigh, N.C., July 21, 2015 – Walter McNairy, Managing Partner of the DHG Financial Services practice, and Robin Sawyer, DHG Financial Services Partner, will present two sessions on Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses (ALLL) topics at the 2015 Risk Management Summit presented by Sageworks. The event will be held on September 23 – 25, 2015, in Chicago, Ill.

“The 2015 Risk Management Summit is a premier event by Sageworks for community bankers,” said McNairy. “We are excited to present on two key ALLL topics to share strategies for attendees to take back to their institutions.”

McNairy will present Regulator and Auditor ALLL Feedback: How to Avoid Common Pitfalls. The session will focus on recent bank regulator and auditor comments and findings surrounding banks’ calculation of the allowance for loan and lease losses under current accounting standards, as well as strategies to address these pitfalls to bolster your overall ALLL process.

Sawyer will present ALLL Model Validation and Model Risk Management. Supervisory expectations have evolved with an enhanced view of what constitutes strong model risk management practices. Regulators and other external stakeholders have a keen interest in understanding the methods companies have used to assess their models’ performance, particularly as it relates to output accuracy and decision-making usefulness. His session will provide a comprehensive look at Model Governance and Program Design, Model Risk Management Policies and Procedures, and Model Validation Programs.

Over the past 25 years, McNairy has worked with community, regional and Top 10 banks, helping them achieve their strategic goals and navigate the complexities inherent in today’s environment. Sawyer has more than 30 years of total business experience in both industry and public accounting roles, serving both private and publicly traded financial services companies.
